About
Randall |
After working as a carpenter,
electrician, and New England Culinary Institute trained
chef, Vermont native Randall Henson found that furnituremaking
satisfied his desire to create something of enduring quality
and beauty. Traditionally made Windsor Chairs are his
focus and he works true to the centuries old methods of
construction to build remarkably fine and durable chairs.
Randall demonstrates
and teaches furnituremaking at The Shelburne Museum
in Shelburne, Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury,
NH, The Ethan Allen Homestead in Burlington, The Fairbanks
Museum in St. Johnsbury, and The Shelburne Arts Center.

The first stage of Randall's training
was a 2 1/2 year apprenticeship with Timothy Clark
cabinetmaker/chairwright. During this apprenticeship,
he focused on making Shaker inspired furniture, contemporary
Windsor Chairs, and wooden lapstrake boats. Subsequent
training included: an intensive one-on-one workshop with
master chairmaker David Sawyer; classes
at The Windsor Institute, a boat building class at The
Wooden Boat School and workshops with Bill Coperthwaite
at The Center for Whole Communities in Fayston, Vermont. |
